Review: Aknemycin Plus

A year ago I went to my doctor to pick up my usual Retin-A gel prescription, however my doctor was unable to prescribe me my trusted acne medicine, for reasons I do not understand. I immediately went into a panic frenzy, foreseeing the horror my face would become if I didnt get my hands on some tretinoin- the acitve ingredient now! I had already left it a month  and a few breakouts had begun to surface. I expected the worse and was already planning my next steps, using retinol - the commercially widely available derivative of tretinoin but has about 1/100 of the same effect. Stocking up on rosehip oil, a natural source of tretinoin. But nothing would be the same!
Aknemycin

My doctor could see how distraught I was, she waited for my little frenzy to finish and then tell me there was an alternative! A solution with erythromycin an antibiotic and tretinoin combined. A double attack on active acne and prevent comedonal acne like blackheads which I suffered with due to my oily complexion. The solution had a higher concentration of tretinoin than my last medication, which made me initially scared as I had to be very careful using the 0.01% gel otherwise I would get damaged dry, scabbing skin. I thought this was due to the tretinoins strong effects, however now that I am using the solution of 0.025%  tretinoin, I know that it was the ethanol in the gel that was the culprit.
The solution on application is like water, it evaporates very quickly, so be careful when applying on the cheeks as the vapour can irritate the eyes slightly. It was quickly absored and my skin felt dry to the touch. I use it nightly after applying a thin layer of glycerin to ease my fears of any dry dehydrated skin. Although since the switch I have nit had a severe dry reaction  as I used to. I am able to use the solution every night if I want, although I only do this around my monthly cycle or when breakouts are more prominent. Initially I used it every other night, and slowly weaned myself off to using it 1-2 a week. My skin smoother, there's very little peeling, which was a big problem with the gel. It helps my scars so much, within days I notice scars fading, pores are more refined, skin feels softer like velvet almost. Oil for me was the root cause for my blackheads and acne, the solution has helped control oil production. In fact when I notice myself getting more oily I know its time to start using Aknemycin again, and my skin is back to normal!

I'm so happy with this Acne medicine, its the most effective, gentle medicine I've ever possibly had! Its worth going to your doctor and trying out, especially if you have comedonal acne.

Holland and Barrett Wonder Oil Review

So I was browsing through my local Holland and Barretts yesterday to pick up my usual supplements, and various lotions and potions, when I came across this ''wonder oil''. Just the name alone was enough for me to pick it up and start analysing the list of ingredients. On the front it says '' a heavenly combination of oils, herbs and fruits for skin, hair and nails''. This oil is entirely herbal and natural, no synthetic nasties, parabens etc. It does however have quite a list of ingreients, all of which are either oils or extracts of herbs and vitamin a,e and D.  Reading all that, I decided to buy it,but at 10.89 it was slightly more than I would usually pay for an oil, seeing as it was a multi-purpose oil, I knew it would be used up quite quickly.  Keeping that in mind, I decided I would use it straight from the bottle as a night oil for nails and my face, and make a mixture of the wonder oil, coconut oil, olive oil, sweet almond oil and a few drops of essential oil for my hair.

As a night oil it is very pleasent to use, it glides smoothly over skin, and is very well absorbed, its oily but not greasy and sticky, and I find that its quite light and satiny for an oil, as it does not give a heavy clogged up feel to the skin. And it smells delicously of orange peel and lemon, which are two of the many ingredients.   When I woke up the next morning, I found that the oil has absorbed into my skin and left it feeling soft, smooth and hydrated. Although I do have oily skin, and therefore dont know how dry skin may respond to the oil.

As for its use on the hair, I cant give it a true review, as i used it as a mixture, but one thing I can say is that to my usual mix of coconut oil, olive oil and sweet almond oil, it gave a veary nice smell, which would otherwise not smell very nice.  I will use it as a oil on my hair alone, but just on the ends and see how it works. The directions on the bottle for hair use state the oil should be warmed, and massaged into hair afer shampooing, then covered with a warm moist towel for 3-5 minutes, and just rinsed through afterwards. I find this quite strange, seeing as its an oil, shouldnt it be shampoo'd out?  Anway, I think thats just something I'll have to find out myself!

Overall, this oil is great, does the job, for skin, nails, as a massage oil too. I would rate it 10/10.

Review: Organic Surge Daily Face Wash

So I first bought this face wash about 2 years ago, when shopping at my local Boot's, and it immediatly catchd my eye as it said Organic, so I HAD to try it out! On the bottle it says its for all skin types, and I completely agree, considering that I have oily skin, and my sister has very dry skin, and the facewash suits us both! Its like it customizes itself to suit the persons skin type.Here's what it says on the back;
Daily Care Face Wash cleanses, refreshes and moisturises all skin types. Rinse away daily dirt, make up and impurities with this naturally-foaming, gentle face wash. Organic rose geranium essential oil will help restore the skin’s natural balance and clear a dull, sluggish complexion.
Daily Care Face Wash contains natural actives:
  • Rose geranium essential oil - helps to restore skin's natural balance and clears sluggish skin circulation
  • Aloe vera - calms and moisturises skin
  • Frankincense - has soothing and relaxing properties whilst promoting facial skin cell rejuvenation by improving blood supply and stimulating circulation
  • Vitamin E - a naturally-derived ingredient with anti-oxidant properties, helping to reduce skin inflammation or irritation
  • Natural glycerin - a natural humectant which attracts moisture to the skin, allowing it to remain hydrated and soft.
Its leaves skin feeling really clean, fresh and hydrated. The scent is so beautiful, a really nice thing to wake up to, when you re feeling groggy in the morning, and well I live in England, so the weather  isn't much too smile about at 6.00 am. Unlike other natural products, this face wash easily foams, so its glides over your skin when washing.

The price is about 4.75-6 pounds depending on where you go, my local boots stop supplying it, so I have to buy online, which is 4.75 from www.naturallyfabulous.co.uk

I would rate this product about 9.5/10 simply because is I don't know if anyhting better is out there, but this is the best face wash I have ever tried, lives up to the job! And would definitely recommend!
