Holland and Barrett Wonder Oil Review

So I was browsing through my local Holland and Barretts yesterday to pick up my usual supplements, and various lotions and potions, when I came across this ''wonder oil''. Just the name alone was enough for me to pick it up and start analysing the list of ingredients. On the front it says '' a heavenly combination of oils, herbs and fruits for skin, hair and nails''. This oil is entirely herbal and natural, no synthetic nasties, parabens etc. It does however have quite a list of ingreients, all of which are either oils or extracts of herbs and vitamin a,e and D.  Reading all that, I decided to buy it,but at 10.89 it was slightly more than I would usually pay for an oil, seeing as it was a multi-purpose oil, I knew it would be used up quite quickly.  Keeping that in mind, I decided I would use it straight from the bottle as a night oil for nails and my face, and make a mixture of the wonder oil, coconut oil, olive oil, sweet almond oil and a few drops of essential oil for my hair.

As a night oil it is very pleasent to use, it glides smoothly over skin, and is very well absorbed, its oily but not greasy and sticky, and I find that its quite light and satiny for an oil, as it does not give a heavy clogged up feel to the skin. And it smells delicously of orange peel and lemon, which are two of the many ingredients.   When I woke up the next morning, I found that the oil has absorbed into my skin and left it feeling soft, smooth and hydrated. Although I do have oily skin, and therefore dont know how dry skin may respond to the oil.

As for its use on the hair, I cant give it a true review, as i used it as a mixture, but one thing I can say is that to my usual mix of coconut oil, olive oil and sweet almond oil, it gave a veary nice smell, which would otherwise not smell very nice.  I will use it as a oil on my hair alone, but just on the ends and see how it works. The directions on the bottle for hair use state the oil should be warmed, and massaged into hair afer shampooing, then covered with a warm moist towel for 3-5 minutes, and just rinsed through afterwards. I find this quite strange, seeing as its an oil, shouldnt it be shampoo'd out?  Anway, I think thats just something I'll have to find out myself!

Overall, this oil is great, does the job, for skin, nails, as a massage oil too. I would rate it 10/10.

  1. I'm about to use the same oil right now. I'm desperate for it to help my hair grow faster!! I'm thinking to rub it into my scalp whilst it's warm and sleep with it in over night. but don't know wether to wet my hair first or just to put it on already washed and dry hair?
    Any suggestions?
Remember, my aim is for it to stimulise my hair :). Any comments will be great x

    1. To the comment about using the oil for hair stimulation.Yes, using the oil warm before you sleep, will stimulate your hair, but to maximize the effect, i would massage my scalp with it for 10 minutes whilst its hot, wrap your hair with clingfilm, to avoid getting pillow oily, and to keep the oil warm, and wear a hat over this, as the cling film might slip and deattach. Hope this helps!

  3. It's a Shame to say that when I leave this oil in my hair, it has made it very dry at the ends :( shame, I suppose I have different kind of hair. But if it wasn't for that, I'd say it's great stuff :) x
